Postville Prosecutor up for Promotion

TPM.com blogger Ted Rodgers is reporting that the chief deputy prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office that handled the Postville, Iowa raid last summer has been picked for a promotion to the top position at that office.  According to Rodgers, “Recently Senator Tom Harkin announced  that  he had chosen Stephanie Rose, Chief Deputy of the Criminal Division of the US Attorney office in the Northern District of Iowa as his recommended candidate  to be that district’s new US Attorney.” This is the same office that prosecuted several of the detained immigrant workers under criminal identity theft statutes.

Though Rose’s specific role in planning and implementing the Postville debacle remains unclear, Rodgers rightly points out that she was a high-ranking official in an office that spent months coordinating an enormous raid.
